Journey
Luke Bombardieri is an emerging Australian composer and sound designer based in Hobart, Tasmania.
Originally training in classical piano and viola, he forged a passion for orchestral composition and recording. His arrangement of Claude Debussy’s Sunken Cathedral attracted the attention of Australian Conductor Richard Gill AO, who invited him to Sydney where his work was performed by the Sydney Sinfonietta under Gill’s tutelage.
He later studied Medicine at the University of Tasmania while simultaneously expanding his composing repertoire to include music for screen.
Over the course of his medical degree, he undertook several projects, including writing and recording original scores for multiple short films and TV commercials. He also furthered his interest in choral music, performing St Matthew Passion as a singer with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Recent projects include commissions for clients such as Old Kempton Distillery & Skookum Construction (TVC) as well as scoring the short film SOMBRA, a Thriller/Horror dir. Phoenix Rain, for which Luke won Best Score at MyState Film Festival.
In 2022 while working as a Doctor at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Luke commenced work on the upcoming short Drama A BEATING HEART, an experimental short film written and directed by Julian Maguire, cinematography by Joshua Lamont ACS. The original score can be heard on this page.
This project required the balance of real-world field recordings in combination with multiple instruments (organic and synthetic) to create a multidimensional and highly evocative soundtrack. All audio production created with finely tuned Yamaha monitors to achieve the most faithful-to-source audio reproduction and supreme stereo-imaging.
